Overview and Definitions

PigCHAMP software was initiated in 1985, and the Benchmarking program began in 1992. Since then, enthusiastic and unselfish support from producers, technicians and practicing veterinarians across the swine industry and around the world have helped develop our unique global database.

[ PWMFY ]
Historically, we have used pigs weaned/mated female/year (PWMFY) as an indicator of high-performing farms. PWMFY is the best indicator of reproductive efficiency, but is not a measurement of longevity, lifetime performance, piglet quality or animal welfare. For benchmarking purposes, we have presented a summary table that attempts to measure farms based on various measurements. Some of these variables included on the Individual Farm Report are Farrowing Rate, Non-Productive Sow Days/Cycle(days), Pre-Weaning Mortality, Gilts Bred/Week(%) and Sows and Gilts Mated/Week(%)

Interested in the calculations used for all our variables? See our FAQ's!

Each quarter we will focus on one variable and provide an individual analysis of your farm and either email or mail back to you. Viewing the information can give you insight into farm trouble areas. Click below to see an example of our Quarterly Report.
